Advice on Changing Careers in 2023
A recent survey by Fiverr and YouGov found that nearly 6 in 10 American workers plan to make changes to their jobs or careers in 2023. People desire greater flexibility, the ability to work remotely and while travelling, as well as the chance to pursue their passions. So how do you start? One of our top sellers was consulted for suggestions on changing careers in 2023.
Charmaine Pocek is a Fiverr seller who has earned approximately $3M by providing services including cover letter and resume writing, interview coaching, and more. She served as a recruiter for a prestigious Houston hospital before beginning her work as an independent career consultant.

Tip #1:
consider carefully what you care about and what is significant to you.
Whether it's the food we eat, the music we listen to, or even the people we choose to hang out with, our likes and dislikes alter a lot over time. Because of this, it's wise to consider your values in both your life and your profession before making a shift.
Consider your hobbies and interests outside of work, but also consider your favourite aspects of your current position and how they may be applied elsewhere. Even if you don't want to stay with the organisation you work for or the type of work you do, there may still be elements of it that you like and want to keep.
Tip #2:
Make modest goals for yourself and treat yourself when you achieve them.
Let's use the photography illustration from earlier. If that's what you want to do, try to travel more and take images on the weekends even though you might not be able to quit your work and travel the world taking photos just yet. Whenever you generate the courage to ask your boss to work from home or whenever you send your CV to a new firm, reward yourself. This is true regardless of your ultimate aim, whether it is to change the company you work for, enhance your flexibility at work, or work remotely more frequently.
I bought a Pandora bracelet for myself as one of my self-care initiatives this year. I have established minor goals for myself throughout the year, and each time I reach one, I purchase a charm for the bracelet. Although it might take me years to fill it, I can assure you that it will be the most satisfying feeling once I do.
Tip #3:
Third advice is do not be scared to venture outside of your comfort zone.
Do it, or don't. Try is not an option. Not Socrates or Aristotle, but Yoda or, more accurately, George Lucas, said those words. However, what they truly mean is that no matter how much you prepare yourself for a change—whether it's in your company or the way you now work—you won't know until you... simply do it. The hardest thing is usually that.
The first day and page are usually the hardest, whether you're starting a new diet or writing a book. But you succeeded. You made a commitment, therefore all you need to do is "do" and stop trying.
