Make a side business for yourself right now.

Don't wait: start a side business right away.

Recently, when my aunt called, we discussed her new side business as a real estate agent. She had been working her way up the corporate ladder at the same company for the previous 30 years or so in a number of various positions. She eventually rose to the position of Vice President, but regrettably, she wasn't content. She could recall that the path to her accomplishment had always been fraught with anxiety.

Long hours and exhausting days led to a career of being dissatisfied by a work that, in the end, had nothing to do with who or what she genuinely loved. She said something to me on the phone that really stood out to me, and I've been reflecting on it for weeks: "Chase, you only have this one, beautiful life. That's it. Therefore, don't waste it by doing something you detest. It took me until now to understand it.

"My aunt found another job with much less stress after leaving that one. She enrolled in real estate classes with her newly acquired spare time, and as a result, she is now a licenced agent in my hometown. Even last month, she sold her first home! She smiled via the phone when I questioned her about how it felt. It feels fantastic, she said. "Just wish I had finished it sooner.

"I hope you can reflect on your own life and profession after hearing her story. The moment is now to pursue your goals, whether they involve something you've always wanted to do or even something you've wanted to let go of. Additionally, you don't have to make any major adjustments to begin with.

Determine What Brings You Happiness

Prior to creating a side business for yourself, you must first determine what brings you joy. Now that all is said, let's examine my aunt's path to her new life. My aunt has always enjoyed to learn new things and I can remember her loving it. She has always been tough and had a hustle mindset, even if she didn't graduate high school.

She held a number of jobs prior to joining her former company of many years, and during that time she eventually returned to school, completed her undergraduate degree, and even obtained her Master's degree at night. She is accustomed to working long hours, but on her nights off, she also enjoys watching HGTV.

She used to watch real estate shows like Flip or Flop and House Hunters while enjoying a lovely glass of white wine. She gradually developed an interest in real estate through the years, but she had not yet made the commitment to make it a part of her life.

Additionally, she used apps like Zillow and Trulia to investigate local properties when she wasn't watching her favourite shows, simply for fun. She had a strong passion for housing, whether she realised it immediately away or not. You can learn from my aunt that you should start paying attention to how you use your leisure time outside of your 9-to-5 job. Of course, I recognise that this may vary for everyone.

She felt as though a lightbulb had just gone off in her head. How could she turn this into a real job after spending all this time studying about homes, acquiring ideas, and the local market? As soon as she started her new work, she had a lot more free time, so she immediately searched online to see what she needed to do to get licenced. Six months later, she started a side business for herself, and each day she gets closer to quitting her other job and pursuing her passions full-time.

Make time for your side business once you find it.
I'm not advocating quitting your career, but you should carve out time for your passions if you feel that what you're doing isn't keeping you happy at some point. Even though I work full-time at my side gig as a freelance writer, something odd has actually happened to me: I'm devoting less and less time to my creative writing.

Writing for clients is my primary source of income, and while I enjoy it, my heart truly leaps when I write poetry and short stories rather than marketing articles and copywriting assignments. I make time to compose new articles and submit them for publication little by little. But as months pass and deadlines mount, I come to the realisation that my aspirations have once more fallen by the wayside. Now is the time for me to take stock of my life and make time for the things I enjoy.

Like my aunt, I must figure out a way to leave behind my demanding job, which I also enjoy, and make creative writing my primary responsibility. That might include accepting fewer freelancing jobs each month. Maybe I should create a submission calendar and make sending out my work each week a priority. I should possibly take a six-month break from work and finish the manuscript I've been working on for the previous two years.

I've already identified my interest; all that remains is for me to pursue it. However, it's simpler said than done.
